Local Life - A Showcase of the Best Local Produce
Delicious food, its tracebility, the organic farming industry and seasonal foods, these are hot topics today, and were brought to the fore with our Local Life event on the 13th September. Our showroom became the vital stop in town, as we launched the Aga Local Life campaign. With delicious locally produced foods to sample, great Aga cooking in action, and fantastic talks on local, organic ingredients the shop quickly attracted a large crowd, which continued throughout the day.
Demonstrator Sue Wrigley cooked up a storm, getting everyone's appetites going with dishes such as organic leek and potato soup, cottage garden cake, mushrom risotto and apple and marzipan tarts. Most of the ingredients that Sue used were supplied by our local producers. Our customers agreed that the quality and flavour of the produce, was some of the best they had ever tried.
Various talks occurred throughout the day, with the concepts of organic foods and the benefits of locally sourced produce being the explored themes. Guests speakers included John Botterels of Botterells Fish, who discussed seasonal and sustainable fishing, and Mr Jenner of Nut Knowle who chatted about his locally produced goats cheesed. Barbara Simmons of our local Farmers market and Keith Dean of Ladywell Organics also held discussions with our visitors.
Overall it was a day enjoyed by all, and everyone left feeling a little wiser about local foods, and their .jpg) appetites somewhat satisfied thanks to the delicious Aga cooking. It was just the outcome we were hoping for!

Meet the Team:
Penny, the store manager, is the newest member of the team. “I joined Aga in 2008, having spent most of my working life in retail management. I love the energy and diverse nature of retail and also love the fact that no two days are the same. I am especially passionate about Aga, as I am a keen cook and until I joined the company, I had never had the opportunity to use an Aga. I have been blown away by how easy cooking on an Aga is and how good the food tastes. Everything I try just seems to come out perfectly!”
Andy is the Assistant Manager and grew up in a family of Aga and Rayburn owners. He has been working for Aga for 3 years and is very knowledgeable about Agas and Rayburns alike. Andy is a keen cook and also likes to grow his own vegetables.
Lorraine has been with the company for nearly 2 years now and hated baking before she joined Aga! She now regularly bakes in store and her repertoire includes Banana and Cinnamon cake, rock cakes and lime and coconut cup cakes. Mmmm!
Dennis has been with Aga for over year now and is our “One-to-One” demonstrator. He also regularly cooks on our Rayburn 400.
Jackie has worked in the Tunbridge Wells store for 12 years and has owned 5 Agas! She currently has a 13 amp 3 oven Aga and is a fountain of knowledge for all things Aga.
