Aga Charity Demonstration – 25th March 2009 Raises an impressive £735.00 for Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA)
Peter Hughes a renowned AGA Demonstrator and former Restaurateur attended to the Demonstration at the AGA Shop in Stratford on 25th March 2009 in a bid to raise as much as possible for the RDA. The RDA’s aim is to improve the lives of people with disabilities by providing opportunities for riding and carriage driving. They offer a therapy which benefits mobility and co-ordination whilst developing confidence and self worth. The Association has 500 member groups, 3,400 horses and ponies and in excess of 24,000 riders and a dedicated team of 18,500 committed volunteers!
A Dozen valued AGA Owners paid to attend this “Cooking to Impress for Dinner Parties” Demonstration with all proceeds being made direct to the RDA. Peter prepared a superb “Fayre” including “Tuna with Vegetable Confit, Crab Filled Tomato and Turnip Rosette with Herb Butter Dressing, Sirloin of Beef with a little Gem Lettuce, Shallot & Cornichon Marmalade, Coconut Parfait , Strawberry & Rhubarb set in a Panna Cotta & Brandy Snap Basket plus a variety of other sumptuous dishes.
In addition to the demonstration a raffle was made with many a prize being donated from local shops such as Cornucopia, Spec Savers, Fred Winters, Horse Riding Association, Havilands and the AGA Shop. A very BIG thank you to each and every one of those retailers – without whose support we would not have been able to make this fund raising even happen.
Furthermore, the Avon Air Centre of Wellesbourne gave a concession flight for two over Stratford which was auctioned and The Eckington Manor Cookery School near Pershore provided a Cookery “Taster Day” which was also auctioned. Between these two Auctions we raised a further £230.00, bringing the Grand Total for the RDA to £735.00.
