Aga launches campaign to reunite the Aga family in time for historic anniversary
Love your Aga? Then tell us about it…
Since the very first Aga was installed more than 80 years ago, people have been falling in love with this most iconic cooker – and the love affair can last a lifetime.
It’s difficult to think of another household product used every day, which can last for decades, often passed down from one generation to the next. It’s also hard to imagine another brand that inspires such passion.
2009 sees the 300th anniversary of the historic foundry in Coalbrookdale where Agas have always been made. It’s where Abraham Darby famously started the Industrial Revolution, when he first used coke to smelt iron, and it’s now a United Nations-designated World Heritage Site.
The people behind the world’s most famous cooker aim to reunite 300,000 Aga owners in time for this auspicious anniversary. But it won’t be easy – Agas just keep going and are often inherited or acquired with house purchases. By reconnecting with Aga lovers, the company will be able to ensure they get the most from their cookers and they can take advantage of a range of exclusive benefits, including cookery courses, special offers and invitations to anniversary events. They will also be in the unique position of being able to become part of the history of Aga. Here’s how…
Love Aga – the book Next year will see the publication of a large-format gift cookbook called Love Aga. It will be a charming and elegant collection of Aga recipes from chefs, celebrities and Aga owners, beautiful photographs, anecdotes and Aga ephemera, and will feature personal stories from Aga owners across the globe.
Put your Aga on the map http://www.thisismyaga.co.uk/ is a website where Aga owners will be able to upload their Aga pictures and stories and put their Aga on the map. There will be lots of exciting offers available exclusively to those who register. Perhaps, though, the most exciting thing is the contributions made by Aga owners – they will be key to making this an exciting place to visit, so we’re encouraging as many people as possible to log on and tell us all about their Aga.
Register your Aga Aga lovers can also register their Agas by ringing 0845 4810772 or by sending their details to: This is my Aga, Aga, Station Road, Ketley, TF1 5AQ.
Aga Managing Director Gerald O’Brien says: “I’m Abraham Darby’s 31st successor as foundry manager at Coalbrookdale. The Dale has been a key part in the Aga family history and I’m excited about reuniting that family.”
